Embracing Failure

This is a couple of years old, but the messages are so important, I thought I'd share them. J.K. Rowling on the fringe benefits of failure.

J.K. Rowling Speaks at Harvard Commencement from Harvard Magazine on Vimeo.

"What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality." -Plutarch.

How will your imagination inspire change?

  1. My imagination inspired my dream to write after losing my job teaching. I let it go and play. I've been trying to keep up with it ever since. It made me a much happier person for it.

  2. Thanks so much for this video. A poignant, wise, and profound address from one of our generation's greatest writers.

  3. Laura: Good for you! It's so important to do what you love.

Barb: You're welcome. Wonderful words from an inspirational woman.

Shelli: You're welcome. Thanks for sharing what you've been going through.

  4. I love that video. I saw Opera talking with her about that very speech. It was great to hear the speech.
Failure is not what drives me. But when my first book failed I became free to write the book I wanted to write. I stripped back everything else and I am now writing what I most need and want to read. So yes, failure can be a very good thing.
